1. BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

Nayagarh Autonomous College is a holy learning place of the state Odisha. This college was initiated with a scenic campus at one end of small town Nayagarh,with a few teachers, few subjects and small numbers of students. However the subject Logic and Philosophy  draws the attention of the then educationists of the locality and members of the Governing Body since the inception of this Holy Institution. Consequently, the subject Logic and  philosophy has got recognition from Government of Odisha and affiliation from Utkal University .

The Department of Logic and  Philosophy came in to existence with the Logic in I.A.stage from the very inception of the college I.e.1961.

Philosophy as a pass subject opened in the year 1963 with 48 seats and Honours opened in the year 1977 with 16 seats.

Prof. Biraja Tripathy was the first HOD.With the stewardship of the HODs along with the whole hearted cooperation of the other members of the department, students secured position in the university examination on many occasions.

We believe in quality and not in quantity. Our Honours result is always cent percent. The members of the staff take care in shaping the character and personality of the students. We use to keep touch with our students not only when they are prosecuting their study here but also with pass out students and help them in career building.

Philosophy Department always conduct seminar on World Philosophy Day on dt20th November by the students of the department with the cooperation of the faculty in the Department.

Members of the Dept. take Remedial classes for the students who are weak in their study. Important points are discussed at the end of each unit of the paper.
